About

Well, hello there! I am Lily. I am ninteen and I’m taking a gap year, although compared to my friend who went off to Australia or my other friend who is being a skiing instructor in Canada my gap year is pitiful.

I had to take a gap year when I was diagnosed with cancer. Luckily all my operations and treatments are done (touch wood) I am now left with a few months of my gap year with nothing to do!

I have always loved reading, I loved Cornerlia Funke’s, Inkheart and J K Rowling’s, Harry Potter. I never enjoyed school, so I would come home and immerse myself in my books, I loved the fairies and water imphs in the Inkworld in Funke’s book. They seemed so beautiful and I could picture them perfectly. I used to wish that I could live there, our world seemed so tame and bland compared to endless woods, towering castles and fanciful creatures. When I learned to write I realised I could make up my own world and through that our own world seemed much more interesting.

I began to write when I was very young and wrote my first book at thirteen. Although it was awful it was a start and good practice. I began to write my second book during my GCSE’s whenever I had a spare minute between revising and trying not to bounce my head off of the desk in frustration. So once my treatment was finished and my brain kicked back into gear I found the word document and re wrote the entire thing. I am now redrafting, it is about 83’000 words but still needs a lot of work. Hopefully before I go off to university next year to study English and Creative Writing it will be ready to be sent off to some literary agents.

Have a look at my blog, you never know you might enjoy some of my posts and want to read more! In my blog you’ll find my everyday life, my writing, my journeys and more, so take a look.

  1. Lily,
I’d like to nominate your blog for the Liebster Award. I haven’t been following you long but from reading your posts (yep, I read all of them) I find your writing relatable, involving and inspiring. Please let me know if this is okay.

  2. Hi there, Lily 🙂 Cheers for the follow! I used to want to be a writer when I was younger and devoured books by the stack, but sadly I can’t find the time anymore. Your blog is inspiring, keep up the great work! And all the best with your literary dreams 🙂

  3. Hi Lily. Thanks for dropping by my site and deciding to follow. It sounds like you’ve have a very difficult time – leaving school and heading to university is hard enough without having to worry about being diagnosed with cancer on top of all that. Well done for getting through your treatments and having the positivity and energy to start this blog. Do stick at it – there is some lovely writing here and the way to be a writer is to practice, practice, and I think a blog is a great place to do that.

Hi, thank you for such kind words! I am so glad I started my blog, I have enjoyed it so much already! I’m so relieved that my treatment is done and I’m looking forward to university in September! That way I can leave everything that’s happened this year behind!

  4. The first book is always such a learning experience!
